Important: By using Scalpel, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not use our service.

By accessing and using Scalpel (the "Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. If you do not agree to abide by these terms, please do not use this Service.

Scalpel is a web-based bulk file renaming tool that operates entirely in your web browser. Key features include:

  • Client-side processing: All file processing occurs locally on your device
  • No file uploads: Your files are never sent to our servers
  • Immediate download: Processed files are downloaded directly to your device
  • Free service: Currently available at no cost

3. User Responsibilities and Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in any way that violates these terms. You are solely responsible for the files you process and their content.

Prohibited activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Using the Service to process files that infringe on intellectual property rights, copyrights, or trademarks
  • Processing malicious software, viruses, malware, or any harmful content
  • Attempting to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the Service's functionality
  • Using the Service for any illegal activities or to process illegal content
  • Reverse engineering, decompiling, or attempting to extract the source code of the Service

We do not guarantee that:

5. Limitation of Liability

Data Responsibility: You are solely responsible for backing up your files before processing. We are not responsible for any data loss, file corruption, or unintended modifications that may occur during the file renaming process.

6. Intellectual Property

The Scalpel web application, including its source code, design, and functionality, is protected by intellectual property rights.

Open Source Licensing:

You may view the source code and contribute to the project according to the terms of the respective open-source licenses.

7. Future Service Changes

We reserve the right to:

  • Modify or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) with or without notice
  • Introduce premium features, subscription models, or paid tiers in the future
  • Change pricing structures with reasonable advance notice to users
  • Update these Terms of Service as needed

8. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach the Terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in India.
